Runner Spotlight - September 2022

Nicole Robbins

Meet Nicole Robbins! Nicole is 13 years old and loves running. Nicole is a twin and attends Orchard View Middle School. She hopes to have a finish time ahead of Sam Darling someday. She shares that over the years, Run Muskegon members have encouraged her at races and helped her be a better runner.

As a part of our Runner Spotlight, we also asked Nicole to answer a few fun questions:

1. How long have you been running?
I ran my first Seaway Run was when I was five years old, so I have been running for seven years.
2. Do you race? If so, what is your most memorable race experience?
I love to race, winning the 2022 Trinity Health Seaway Run 5K on my Gramma Robbins' birthday was very special to me, it made my Dad cry. Running as an Angel with myTEAM TRIUMPH and Captain Cati is a close second. And Girls on the Run is always special to me.
3. Ever run in a costume? If so, what?

4. Only running shoes for me are…
For a road race, I wear Saucony Endorphin Pro2, and for the trail runs, I run in Merrell Antora 2 Gore Tex
5. What is your worst running-related injury?
I was attacked and bitten by a dog on the bike trail by the YMCA a few years ago on a training run. I had to get rabies shots.
6. Hot or cold weather runner?
I love running in bad weather. The hotter, the colder, the wetter, the better I do.
7. What is your motivation for running?
I love to run. It makes me feel happy and makes me like myself better.
8. If I didn't run I....
I would be getting in trouble at school.
9. I can't run without…

10. What's the farthest you have run at one time?
I ran 31 miles long one day this summer when running across Michigan to make people aware of the bullying of LGBTQ+ students. For a race, it was the North Country Trail half marathon.
