Jared Alderink was born and raised in Muskegon. Jared currently lives in Muskegon with his wife of five years, Maddie. Jared was never really into running in his early days. The most he would run would be a timed mile every hockey season or for stealing a bases in baseball. After high school, Jared attended Muskegon Community College and Grand Valley before deciding to work for his dad in the plastering business. Jared took over his dad’s business in early 2024 and hasn’t looked back since. Aside from running the business, Jared enjoys watching Red Wings and Lions games whenever he can. Jared and Maddie like to spend their time thrifting, going to antique stores, breweries and the beach in the summertime. They also stay busy with their three dogs and love to travel. 1. How long have you been running? 8 years 2. Do you race? If so, what is your most memorable race experience? I do a couple races every year. My most memorable was probably my first Road Ragnar. Mainly because it was a new experience and getting to meet a bunch of new people. 3. Ever run in a costume? If so, what? The closest to a costume was when I threw on a Bubba Gump Shrimp hat during the Shamrock Shuffle a few years ago. 4. Only running shoes for me are... Saucony Endorphin Speed 4 5. What is your worst running-related injury? My worst running injury was when I ran the Seaway Half Marathon after only two months of getting into running. My knee had severe pain on and off for almost two years 6. Hot or cold weather runner? Usually cooler weather. 7. What is your motivation for running? Staying in shape and the reward of having a beer after. 8. If I didn't run I.... would probably do more walking or going on some hikes out at the local state parks. 9. I can't run without... Music, a podcast or having a conversation with another runner. 10. What's the farthest you have run at one time? 20 miles 11. What brought you to Run Muskegon and why have you stayed? My sister talked me into joining. Everyone being so nice and welcoming made me want to stay.
