![]() Cathy is the proud mom of three adult college grads. Her 27-year-old daughter who lives in Phoenix and her 25-year-old twin boys live in Michigan and they are both getting married this year! Cathy was born and raised in West Michigan, attending East Kentwood HS and then MSU (Go Green!!) She loves staying active by walking, hiking and lifting weights. She also loves traveling, boating, paddleboarding, gardening and destination hiking (especially visiting and hiking in our National Parks). To make ends meet, Cathy is a full time real estate agent, which also means she is a full time driver :) What Cathy finds truly rewarding about her job is getting to meet and know an incredible variety of people; people with whom she would probably never cross paths with.....and helping them with the process of buying or selling their home. Cathy lives in Norton Shores with her fiancée, Matt Post, who is also a Run Muskegon member. 1. How long have you been running? Before finding out 5 years ago about L4/L5/S1 degenerative disc problems, I used to enjoy a good 3-5 mile run. Since then, I have had to exclude running and other activities because they aggravate my nerve symptoms. 2. Do you race? If so, what is your most memorable race experience? I have never raced. The closest thing to "racing"? Ha ha....my personal enjoyment of a good me vs. me challenge while timing myself to the top of Camelback in Phoenix. 42 minutes. 3. Only running shoes for me are... For walking and the gym, I've been a Saucony girl for about 20 years now. Hiking I like my Oboz and Scarpas. I am currently experimenting with some Hokas, but the jury is out on them. 4. What is your motivation for running? My motivation? I like the way I feel when I am moving. It is cathartic for me. I love the high or the flow state - that mental state where my mind goes when I am moving my body with exertion. Sometimes there might be some idea generation, sometimes some problem solving, sometimes just enjoying being alive and enjoying the ability to move my body. And I like the calorie burn because I sure do like to eat and drink too! 5. What's the farthest you have run at one time? The longest hike I've done was I think 13 miles. 6. What brought you to Run Muskegon and why have you stayed? Matt Post brought me to Run Muskegon and I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know so many of the members. The wonderful people that make up this group are the reason I do and will continue.
