Marci is a passionate runner and proud member of Run Muskegon! A Technical Product Manager by profession, she grew up in Michigan and moved to Muskegon four years ago. Her life took a new stride in 2003 when she started running, a journey that has helped her maintain a healthy lifestyle and given her the courage to embark on solo travel adventures. Marci has raced to Alaska, Arizona, and Pennsylvania for running camps and retreats. Cheering on her fellow runners is one of Marci's favorite activities, and it's a big reason why she loves participating on Run Muskegon’s race committee. Running has also allowed her to connect with her local community and cultivate great friendships. When she's not hitting the pavement, Marci enjoys her semi-professional activity of herding her two French Bulldogs and travel adventures with her husband Mike. Let's lace up and go the distance with Marci! 1. How long have you been running? I started running in 2003, after losing a few pounds (60) to maintain and enjoy some of the carbs…ok a lot of the carbs. 2. Do you race? If so, what is your most memorable race experience? I really love participating in races and experiencing that atmosphere and energy. Probably, having to share the course with a bear crossing the stream while the finish line was on the bridge. 3. Ever run in a costume? If so, what? Yes! Great race where everyone was issued a Santa suit to run in. 100’s of Santa’s running through downtown for a 5K. 4. Only running shoes for me are...currently it is Topos for the win against bunion pain. 5. What is your worst running-related injury? don’t all runners have tight calves and end up with a sore something as a result? 6. Hot or cold weather runner? I’ll do cold if it isn’t too treacherous. Fair weather for the win. 7. What is your motivation for running? I believe that we can do hard things, and running is only one of those things. I want to be able to keep moving and enjoy life’s adventures. 8. If I didn't run I.... I really can’t imagine not running, I would probably have to learn to crochet or something that would offer the same meditative benefits. 9. What's the farthest you have run at one time? I did a 50K last year on my 50th birthday. 10. What brought you to Run Muskegon and why have you stayed? I knew I would be moving to Muskegon and wanted to make sure that I had connections to the community, since a lot of my work buddies were not local to Muskegon
