Nick Sima was born and raised in Muskegon. He lives with his wife Lindsay and his dog Journey. His day job is working for a software company that makes applications for first responders. Nick's hobby is really just collecting other hobbies ranging from tabletop gaming, to running, to even performing in a musical early last year. Nick and Lindsay were married last year in October. 1. How long have you been running? I ran in the 2019 Seaway Run 5k. I did some training for a 10k right after but never got around to signing up for one. I've been on and off running ever since. 2. Do you race? If so, what is your most memorable race experience? I've done a few 5Ks, a couple of Adventure runs, and one-Half Marathon. Seems like every race has some memorable component, but running with my sister in her first 5K is a top memory for sure. 3. Ever run in a costume? If so, what? For Halloween this last year, I wore parts of my storm trooper costume for run club while also playing Star Wars music from my bluetooth speaker. I always mildly want to run a 5k in my inflatable T-rex costume. 4. Only running shoes for me are… I know that I don't know anything about shoes, so when I get new shoes, I trust in the shoe store folks to guide me. The last pair that was recommended and I still wear was Saucony Ride 17 5. What is your worst running-related injury? No real injuries to report, just a lost toenail or two. 6. Hot or cold weather runner? I'll sweat no matter what the temperature is outside, so I'm more of a Spring/Fall temperature preference. I’m always up for an air-conditioned treadmill run. 7. What is your motivation for running? My motivation has changed so many times. It started with 'Can I do a 5k?'. At one point it was 'Can I do that distance faster?'. In the end, doing hard things that I am not really sure I can do is my underlying motivation. 8. If I didn't run I.... Honestly, I've got so many hobbies that I'd just spend more time on those things. When I'm not running, I'm playing various video and board games. I also 3d print stuff from time to time. 9. I can't run without… I'm pretty partial to my chocolate milk running shorts by Chicken Legs. 10. What's the farthest you have run at one time? The Half marathon I ran last summer. I'm guessing that record will stand for a long while. While I can run for hours, I'd rather be done in under 60 minutes. 11. What brought you to Run Muskegon and why have you stayed? Global running day happened to land the day after my birthday in 2024. (It landed directly on my birthday in 2025) I thought that if I was going to try to knock out a 5k on a Wednesday, why not check out this run club that meets at one of my favorite breweries. I keep coming back because the folks here are great.
